Greenwashing can have disastrous consequences for society, consumers, businesses, and the environment.
A new global survey found that although 80% of executives give their organizations above-average ratings for environmental sustainability and 86% believe their efforts make a difference, only 36% have measurement tools in place to quantify their sustainability efforts.
A global review, led by the International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network (ICPEN), found that 40% of websites surveyed used misleading tactics to promote green products.
Unfortunately, 65% of executives say they want to advance sustainability efforts but don't know how to go about it. Most (82%) say they want to prioritize sustainability but have yet to.
✅ To ensure proper communication, it's essential for everyone to understand greenwashing and how to prevent it. Build awareness and educate executives and employees on appropriate, honest communication and sustainability efforts.
